Frequently Asked Dental Questions – Frisco, TX

Patient Education is Always a Top Priority

Oral healthcare is not something most people think about on a daily basis. That’s why Dr. Caballeros and the team at On Point Dentistry™ have taken the time to create a series of frequently asked questions our dental office receives and our answers! If you cannot find any information related to your question, please don’t hesitate to give our dental office a call. We’ll do everything we can to keep you informed on your next potential treatment.

How often are checkups and cleanings needed?

To achieve the best oral health possible, you’ll want to visit our dental office once every six months for a checkup and cleaning. With routine visits, we can ensure that any developing dental disease is caught in its earliest stages and treated promptly.

How often is brushing and flossing needed?

You should be brushing twice a day with fluoridated toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush. Make sure to floss daily, particularly before bed if you can. We also recommend using an anti-bacterial or fluoride-based mouthwash to clean hard-to-reach areas.

Do you see children?

Young children are actually more susceptible to dental disease than adults, which is precisely why we not only see children, but make them a priority.

Can you treat a dental emergency after hours?

Dental emergencies should never be taken lightly, which is why we’ve implemented a 24-hour answering service to take your emergency calls, even after our dental office is closed. We’ll receive notification of your call so that we can respond as soon as possible.

What can I do if a temporary crown falls off my tooth?

Use a small amount of toothpaste or denture adhesive to temporarily reattach your crown. Just make sure to get to our dental office as soon as you can afterwards. It doesn’t matter if it falls off or breaks completely, you should always give us a call so that we can help you replace or repair it as needed.

Can I whiten teeth at your dental office?

At On Point Dentistry™, you can whiten your smile both in the dental office and at home! We recognize that dental stains are some of the most common imperfections patients want to treat, and we’re here to answer the call.

How does sedation dentistry work?

Sedation dentistry uses powerful sedatives to help patients feel calm, even if they struggle with dental phobia or anxiety. Dental anxiety is incredibly common in the United States and makes it nearly impossible for people to get the care they need. At On Point Dentistry™, we offer both nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation. If you suffer from dental anxiety, give our dental office a call!

Can I receive dental implants?

If you have missing teeth, chances are you’re a candidate for dental implants. However, the best way to find out for sure is to call our dental office directly and schedule a consultation. During the visit, we’ll perform a full exam and help you figure out which treatment will most effectively resolve your issue.

My child lost a permanent tooth! What should I do?

Call our dental office right away if your child loses a permanent tooth. After you’ve scheduled an appointment with us, rinse the tooth thoroughly with water, but do not dry it off. If the tooth has not been in your child’s mouth for at least 15 minutes, transfer it to a container of milk. Bring it with you to your child’s appointment. We’ll do our best to reattach the tooth, just make sure that you don’t wait!

Are you accepting referrals?

Of course! For many of our current patients, they learned about our dental office from another existing patient.
